2 important publications


This month of April has seen the publication of 2 important works on the design and fabrication of optical fibers with an hollow core. The first structure can overtake the previous limitations of hollow antiresonant fibres in
terms of leakage loss: antiresonant elements nested within the cladding structure would prevent the optical core modes to leak out.
And I have demonstrated that the structure on the right can strongly reduce fibre bending loss (down to the level of photonic bandgap fibres). On top of that the transmission spectrum of this fibre is quite clean, since core/cladding mode coupling is strongly reduced.
...these structures are very promising...
